Garbage

Note to self: remember how you feel at this exact moment the next time you go to binge. Do you really enjoy feeling this way? You control the way you feel by what you eat, and also with exercise. Sure, you’ve got a little injury that scared you, but you must be active, and you must stop that binging. Not only for yourself, but also for loved ones and friends.

Yes, I did it again last night. I had to work late doing some computer consulting, and I didn’t feel well. So, I dove into some candy that was available. Then when I got home around midnight, I couldn’t sleep, and started devouring anything in sight. I’m not only tired today from lack of sleep, but I also feel like garbage because of my bad food choices last night.

I’m not depressed or down in the dumps, but I’m just tired of feeling this way.

Some good news, I visited the doctor the other day, and he did labs on me. Here are the results:

“Stephen, I wanted you to know that your that your kidney function, glucose, and cholesterol were all normal. Glucose was 85. Total cholesterol was 144. Triglycerides were 85. HDL was 62. LDL was 65. Your thyroid level was slightly low, so let’s increase your …”

So, some of my tiredness can be a result of the lower thyroid levels. My thyroid meds have been increased, so we’ll see what happens.

Also, my blood pressure and heart rate was in a safe, normal range.

Health wise, I’m okay. My back is under control. Now I just need to do my weight loss thing.

Finally, I was the recipient of an act of kindness this morning. I was at Dunkin Doughnuts getting coffee and maybe a couple of doughnuts, and when I pulled up to the window, the employee told me that the person in front of me had paid for my order. I wasn’t feeling well from being so tired, and this really brightened my day.

Now, I’m ready for this day to be over so I can get some sleep. lol

There’s a lot of kindness going around this holiday season. The guy in line behind me at the Starbucks drive-thru paid for my coffee this morning (or at least I told the dude at the window that he was going to…)

Um…. why were you eating donuts after just having a binge and feeling awful the night before?

You know, we all have those moments but I’ve somehow lessened mine by making sure I have some type of healthy snack in my purse or gym bag. It sounds so wrong to be trying to lose weight and carry food with you but it works for me. Snack size baggies of measured out almonds, a raw bar, a piece of fruit…it helps
