I found out about this incredible video from my friend Jen at I Run Slow. Dr. Evans explains, simply, the prescription for what is the single best thing we can do for our health. Enjoy:

A Doctor-Professor answers the old question “What is the single best thing we can do for our health” in a completely new way.
Dr. Mike Evans is founder of the Health Design Lab at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto, and a staff physician at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Stephen, thanks for sharing that video. It’s very motivating and also amazing how easy it can be to give yourself better health. Walking 30 min/day doesn’t sound very hard. I know a couple of older ladies here in my neighborhood that are quite active and in better shape than me even though they’re 30 years older. Mostly this is from walking almost everyday.

Great video. I walk almost everyday and it is my favorite way to get in activity. :)

30 minutes a day .. what a different world this could be (health wise) if more people tuned out from the TV/Computer/etc and instead went for a stroll around their neighbourhood.

Solid advice.. thanks for sharing the video.

I do this at work, during lunch hour. Just a nice, brisk walk — I don’t end up sweaty even. But I get outside and move. Exercise doesn’t have to be the exclusive province of jocks. We’ve all got bodies, and we can all move them.
