Yesterday and Walk University

by Stephen Vinson on September 9, 2010

Yesterday was a great day.  I started out with meeting my counselor for our bi-weekly session. She’s helping me out with a few things, and that is going nicely.

Next, I had lunch with Hal and Justin at Momma Golderg’s. I had a salad with romain lettuce, tomatoes, grilled chicken, hot peppers, black olives, and spicy ranch dressing on the side. Hal had already started making a Momma’s Love for me, but I wanted a salad. He gave me the sandwich with just bread and meat, and I ate it later as a snack.

Finally, last night I went to Philip Griffith’s birthday dinner at Surin West. There was just seven of us celebrating his 22nd birthday??? (Ha!)

Jennifer, Vero, and David

Me and Mike (Jennifer's hubby) -- He felt left out, so I showed him some love.

I had a great time hanging out! Dinner was awesome, I had 1.5 Miller Lights (shame on me), 1 spicy shrimp roll, 1 eel roll, and spicy seaweed salad. They didn’t have brown rice sushi, so I had to go with white rice. (I’ve only been able to find brown rice sushi at Publix.)

Yesterday was my rest day, so no walking. I also managed to drink a ton of water.

Walk Univesity

We will be having an informational meeting on Saturday Morning, 9:30am, at the Trak Shak in Homewood, AL. We would love for you to join us. Danny is going to explain everything that you need to know about his couch to 10k program for walkers. I’ll be coordinating and managing all of the group walks. Well be walking at various places around Birmingham including the Lakeshore Trail, Jemison Trail, Southside, Downtown Birmingham, Downtown Homewood, and the Vulcan 10k Course. It’s going to be a fun 8 weeks of 3 weekly group walks. Sonthe Burge will also be speaking at one or two of the group walks. She a dietitian, and she will provide nutritional/dieting tips for us. I really look forward to Walk University and also walking the Vulcan 10k.
