Today’s motivation is from my friend Randy Lyle. (I hope he doesn’t mind me posting this.)
Every morning I log on to Face Book and see yet another entry posted by Randy through Garmin Connect: “Randy ran a 6 mile loop”, “Randy ran 4 miles”, “Randy ran 12 miles”, and on and on and on.
Sometimes in the morning I am tired and I don’t feel like getting my training in, but Randy’s always there motivating me with his sunrise runs.
Randy recently completed the 3N3 challenge, which the challenge is to have run the December 2009 Rocket City Marathon in Huntsville, AL, the January 2010 BankTrust First Light Marathon in Mobile, AL, and finally the February 2010 Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham, AL. Runners that complete the above marathons all get a medal for finishing, but all runners that complete the 3N3 challenge also get a special medal for completing the challenge.
I spoke with Randy before yesterday’s Talladega race. Randy ran the half marathon and I walked the 1.25 fun run. I mentioned to Randy that I was just walking the mile fun run. He looked at me and said:
“Hey, A mile is a mile.”
What he said really helped me to be happy with what I was doing. I just have to take one step at a time.
Here’s a little blurb I came up with the other day that relates to patience and weight loss:
