Biggest Loser Nashville Audition in 3 days

by Stephen Vinson on March 11, 2010

If you’re going to the Biggest Loser auditions this weekend in Nashville, Tennessee, send me a message through my contact page. I’ll send you my cell number so we can meet on Saturday. So far I’ll be meeting with 5 peeps that have contact me through my blog.

Leonard contacted me through my blog, he won a VIP pass in a contest. The casting directors put on a contest to see who could best decorate a Mr. Potato Head, and here’s Leonard’s entry: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5281597&id=168398720984 It looks awesome, how many hours did you spend on that?  – I think I would have attempted to create a Mr. T Potato Head :) Actually, I might end up trying that. If I do it right, it could be awesome. It might make a sweet facebook and twitter avatar. :)

My buddy Andy and I had a discussion about this weekend’s audition. I told about how nervous I am, and he really helped calm my nerves. Basically, what have I got to lose. Nothing. If I don’t make it, it’s not going to stop me from walking, working out, and eating right.

We’ll most likely be staying Saturday night, however it may be difficult to find a hotel room. March Madness is going on in Nashville. So, we might have to find a hotel outside of Nashville. I’ll be updating the blog this weekend ’cause I’ll have my laptop with me.

:)

That's great!! How exciting. We had some people in our Church that tried out last year, and they got all the way to the last cut before not making it onto the show. I hope you go all the way!! Can't wait to find out how it goes!!

e-mail me or call before you get your hotel..some areas better than others in Nashville! You may want to look in the Hermitage area.

Stephen!

Stoked that you're doing the BL audition. I did it twice in Salt Lake in 2006 and 2007 I think. It is a blast! So much fun.

Tons of great people you meet in line, tons of energy and positive vibes. Both were tremendously fun days for me. The time with the actual casting person is extremely limited as you know, but no sweat dude, just stand out (in a good way) and show them you want it and you'd be good on their show. You've got a good story.

The first time I auditioned, I had just lost 175 pounds (though I was still at 378), and I told them that during the group meeting with the casting person. I told them I had done well, but was worried I wouldnt succeed (sadly I fufilled that self prophecy and then some). I didn't get a call back that time, but it was, as an experience, still WELL worth it.

The second time I can't quite remember what I said to them, but I may have felt like the questions the casting guy asked me led me to talk about having struggles with women. Though I've had many girlfriends and relationships, its easy, I suppose, to still paint a fat guy as unlucky in love. That time I got a call back to meet at their hotel room with two of the casting people in Salt Lake a day or two later, so a heads up that you might need to stay, or return, to Nashville. After that, I had further phone calls and video tape submissons, and I believe I would have been on the show if not for gaining 100 pounds or something in the intervening months.

Anyway, my advice isnt any different than the rest of folks. Be yourself. Be charming and charismatic, but naturally, don't force it. There's always dudes, at the two auditions I went to at least, who are trying really hard to be the center of attention, and they always come off to me like Chris Farley wannabee's who try to hard.

Look sharp, feel sharp, be polite, but be fun and relaxed with the casting people, be concise and genuine.

Get them to buy into you and your story. And why shouldnt they, it's not fake, it's real!

Anyway, you're on a path to greatness with or without the Biggest Loser, so just enjoy the hell out of the experience, and hopefully things will work out. If not, you've had a unique and fun life experence, met new people, made new friends, etc. Sounds like a good day to me no matter what :)

You're the man Stephen, and I wish you all the best in the audition!

Be well brother.
