Lazy, Sick Weekend

I have been a bad boy this weekend, but it’s okay because I’m sick. I’ve got a sore throat and chest cold. I have eaten a lot of stuff this weekend to sooth my sore throat. Shame on me. Ha ha ha ha ha!!! My weigh in will not be a good one this Wednesday.

I went to a doc in-the-box this morning, and I don’t have strep, but he did prescribe antibiotics. So now I must be patient and let the meds do their thang.

Dish Network

I finally switched over from cable to satillate. I decided to go with Dish Network because they have the lowest prices and the best DVRs. The tech came out and installed the service last Wednesday, the day after I placed my order.

I was very impressed with the tech that performed the install. He quickly installed the dish and did a neat job with the wiring. There were no loose wires and all connections were clean. I could tell that he enjoyed what he was doing. I even hired him to come back out today and run a network cable for me. I knew he wouldn’t run it when performing the dish install because it’s outside the scope of installing a dish. He quickly ran the cable in the crawl space underneath the house, and we got things running.

I needed the network cable for the slingbox, a network appliance that allows me to watch television anywhere through the internet.

SPEED Channel

One of the primary reasons for this upgrade to DISH was to get the Speed channel. I have missed out on a lot of NASCAR races and coverage because I didn’t have Speed, but no more.

This weekend I watched both the Rolex 24 at Daytona, a 24 hour endurance race for the Grand Am Road Racing league, and I also watched  the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown in Irwindale, California, a race for the all-stars of the NASCAR divisions below the Truck Series.

My boy Moses Smith, driver of the #16 Hasa Pool Products Toyota Camry NASCAR Camping World West Series car, did not finish the Toyota All-Star race due to damage from a wreck, but I look forward to watching him in upcoming races.

Have a great week!!

Hi Stephen, My name is Erik W. Chase "Kyle's Biggest Loser". I'm a college buddy of Kevin Charles. In July of 2009, I tried out for NBC's The Biggest Loser, and although I did not make it onto the show, I made it my personal mission to get healthy and help others to do the same. I tipped the scale at 415 lbs when I graduated from college, married my beautiful wife and lost 140lbs in the first year of marriage only to gain back 100lbs of it. So when July 2009 came around, and being 390lb man who was told he was unable to have kids, I tried out for the show. Since August, I have lost 56lbs and now weigh 334lbs. I have not seen that number in about 6 years! I have just recently been picked up by Anytime Fitness, they heard my story through My Texas News and decided to offer me a completely free membership with my own personal trainer. As a result, by April 11th, I will competing in the Capital 10k race in Austin, Tx! I've never done that before, but I'm excited! I'm so proud of your accomplishments thus far, and my prayers will be with you as you keep shedding those pounds. NBC, eat your heart out right, because in the game of life there are no losers. . . only winners!!

  • Thank you for commenting Erik. At first I wasn't gonna try out for the Biggest Loser and other shows, but my friends have encouraged me to try out. Also, I'm approaching life with a different perspective. When I'm older, I don't want to look back on my life and regret not trying and/or participating in things. I would much rather look back and be proud knowing that no matter where I'm at, I participated. We are the only ones that hold ourselves back. - I'm still feeling icky from this chest cold that started last week. - I do look forward to chatting with you in the future. :)

Stephen, My name is Erik Chase and I am a college buddy of Kevin Charles. He is a friend on my facebook page and he has commented on my blog. I just want to take the time to tell you that I'm so proud of your efforts in losing weight. Weight has been a struggle for me all of my life and as a senior in college in 2002, I tipped the scale at 415lbs. I lost 140 lbs in my first year of marriage naturally only to gain 100lbs back. Then in July of 2009, I decided to audition for NBC's The Biggest Loser, and although I did not make it onto the show, I have made it my mission to lose weight and to inspire others to do the same. In July, I weighed 390lbs, now I weigh 334 lbs and I'm still going! In April, I will participating in my first 10k in Austin, TX. With the help of Anytime Fitness and My Texas News following my story and of course friends and family, I will beat this addiction to food once and for all. God is so good to have mercy on us and I'm truly blessed to hear your story, and you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you continue to shed those unwanted pounds!!
