Saturday 05/30/09

Tomorrow I’m off to the grocery. I’m working on a list, and I will post the list tomorrow with the amount spent. My goal is to spend less than $100 for a week’s groceries for two people. I believe it is doable. Also, tomorrow I will post the food planned for the week. I haven’t tried this yet. But after putting the plan together, I won’t have excuses for straying off the plan.

Tomorrow afternoon I plan on watching the Nascar race with my friend Bob and his dog Lola. I might post a pic of Lola. She is a cutie.

Today was good. I actually have plans to have lunch with friends tomorrow. This weekend WILL be better. I won’t f*ck it up (Jack Sh*t). I saw all of the wonderful food recommendations in the comments. I like the idea of the seasoning on the popcorn.

I’ll probably go to the grocery store on Sunday, and will probably get hummus and pita bread. I’ll post more of a list tomorrow. I am beat right now. I’m starting to feel the elliptical from yesterday.

Peace

Workout

Well I worked out with the personal trainer today, and it was great. I did not look forward to it because of past experiences with trainers. The first thing she asked me was “How long has it been since you lifted weights?” I told her it has been a long time. So she had me do an easy upper body workout to get the weight lifting thing started.

I didn’t record the weight that I lifted because I was nervous and wanted to get through the first workout. Everything is 2 sets of 15 reps. Here’s what I did:

  • Benchpress
  • Curls
  • Ab Crunches (I was able to sit and do these, no way in he** was I getting on the floor :)
  • Exercise where I held the weighted rope thinge at chest level, with my hands gripping from the top, and pushed the rope down to waist level then back up to shoulder level (Horrible description, I’ll find out the name of it before I do it again.)
  • I stepped on the stationary stepper thing. (It was easier than I thought it would be.)
  • The lawn mower start exercise with dumbbells. (Again, don’t know the name)
  • And to finish things off, I rode the elliptical for a few minutes. (I really, really enjoyed the elliptical)
  • She made sure that I rested between sets, and also drank water during the workout.

It wasn’t an extreme workout by no means. It was basically to let my muscles know, “hey buddy we’re not gonna be slacking any more.” Hopefully my “guns” will be okay with that. (Think Ron Burgundy)

Anyhow, I am more comfortable with the trainer and facility. Also, there was another lady working out, and she was very encouraging and helpful. I think this is gonna work out. (Pun)

Alright, on to the next subject: today’s food.

If you’ve read some of my older post, you’ll see that I basically ate the same stuff today as I have the last three months. I won’t change the variety until the weekend when I go to the grocery store. Here’s what I’ve eaten today:

B:
2 boiled eggs minus yolks
2 turkey bacon
2 strawberry waffles with cream cheese and cinnamon apple sauce (i’m out of honey)

S1:
trail mix

L:
sandwich (2 rye, cream cheese, 2 turkey, slice o cheese)
cottage cheese with a little cup of Mondrian Oranges and little cup of pineapple
cinnamon apple sauce

S2:
protein bar after workout

D:
salmon fillet
3 turkey weenies
turnip greens

W:
4 cups (need more)

And finally, I don’t know what happened yesterday, but the floodgates were opened. I received a ton of twitter followers, facebook friends, and blog followers yesterday. However it happened, I want to thank you and everybody that visited, commented, followed, emailed, etc yesterday. It’s funny that before I started this blog, I almost gave up on “the public” because of all of the a**holes making fun of me when I was out and about. Like I’ve said before, a few bad apples (in this case a**holes) ruin the bunch. Again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have made it this far. Yes you!!!! Thank you for your good deed. It does not go unnoticed.

Oh, I almost forgot. Earlier this afternoon I added some progress pics to: http://www.whoatemyblog.com/2009/05/progress-pics.html To me, the only noticeable difference is in the face and chin.

Yet another bad weekend

I am working on some plans for the future regarding my diet plan because I did not have a good weekend at all. I’m not going to list the foods that I ate, but it’s worse than the last time this happened. The worst part of having a bad day, weekend, week, month, etc. is the enormous shame and guilt that I feel afterward. It’s funny how doing well makes me want to brag, but when I don’t do so great, I want to run away and give up.

I wish I could segment all of the different elements (work, home, diet, etc.) of my life. Currently, when I am not doing so hot in one area, I let that perceived failure bring down the other elements. Right now my diet is not going so great, and I let this bum me out all day long. Today, I did nothing but mope and feel sorry for myself at work. Combine my diet with my work doing terrible, I haven’t been feeling so hot.

I did fine today, and the personal trainer is going to call me back in the morning. We will probably schedule Tues and Thur workouts. Then Mon/Wed/Fri I will swim. She also has a diet plan that she wants to share with me.

I feel the two biggest problems with my current plan are:
1. No food/meal variety.
2. No meal planning

I have eaten the same crap now for 3 months now. If you have a good low cal/low fat/low carb recipe, please share it with me.

I will share more tomorrow.

Weigh-In

Today’s weigh in was 573, which was a 10 pound loss from last weigh in. I’m on track for my 50 pound challenge. I’m going to call the personal trainer today and try to step it up a notch. The swimming really makes a difference. Have a great week!

Hump day update

This week has been great.

Everything was perfect on Monday. I walked, ate 3 good meals, 2 good snacks, drank a lot of water, and went swimming.

On Tuesday I installed a phone system in a job site with no air conditioning, which wasn’t so bad. It was a cloudy day. I ate a good breakfast, supper, and one snack. Also, I ate lunch with a couple of the guys at the job site. We ate at a little hot dog/burger joint. I had a regular hamburger all-the-way (mustard, ketchup, onion, lettuce, and pickles), baked chips, and an extra large diet coke (I was extremely thirsty and caffeine deprived.) Additionally, throughout the day I drank a lot of water. So, Although I ate a fried burger for lunch, I didn’t overdo it. I didn’t get a double cheeseburger, large order of fries, nor did I get a sweet tea. I feel Tuesday was a victory.

Today I ate three good meals and one good snack. I didn’t walk because of the rain, but I did swim. The swimming is getting easier every time I go. Once I get in a rhythm, I just swim my laps (like Forrest Gump, “I just ran”). The only big no-no today is I didn’t drink my water throughout the day. I have drank a few cups tonight, but I’ve noticed the greatest results (losing weight and feeling good) if I drink a lot of water throughout the day.

Finally, I want to thank Jack Sh*t for getting after me the other day. That really helped when I stepped up to the counter at that burger joint. I did think of the 50 lb challenge but I also thought, “I don’t want that Jack Sh*t getting after me again.” Thank You

Finally #2, I also want to thank everyone following, reading, and commenting on this blog. I’m amazed at all of the encouragement that everyone gives.

Have a great rest of the week.

50 lb challenge

Here’s an email I received from my friend Kevin B about last weekend:

Let’s chalk this up as a splurge weekend. You have been going hard since January and maybe this will be a good break. BUT, tomorrow, you have got to get back on track. How about you knock out another 50 lbs before the end of June? Good goal to set?
I believe this is a good goal to set. I can’t control how much my body loses, but I damn sure can control what I eat, drink, and how much I exercise. I will hit all of my marks and see if I can lose another 50 lbs by the end of June. As Joe from Family Guy says, “Let’s do this!”

Today I brought my lunch to work, and I’m about to go drink a lot of water. At the end of June I will post my first after picture. Right now at a 50 lb loss there’s not too much of a noticeable difference, but all of the blogs that I follow of people in similar situations as myself, 100 lbs seems to be the start of a very noticeable difference in appearance.
I will post my food and exercise tonight.
Thanks

Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day everybody.

I thank you for reading and commenting.

Well, I had another bad food weekend. First, Friday’s supper was a double cheeseburger and fries from Chris Z’s by St. Vincent’s Hospital. Saturday was good except for a 1/2 big bag of chex mix that I ate along with a small bag of trail mix. Then the biggie on Sunday: Lunch I had a double Milo burger, large fries, 2 honey mustard, large sweet tea, and a large snicker blast from Sonic. Then, to to finish the weekend, Sunday’s supper was a double cheeseburger and a large loaded fries from Rally’s.

It was a very high calorie weekend, but I will knock out a good week. My friend Kevin B sent some advice via email, and I agree with him. He said that I must drink water, and I am getting bored eating the same thing every day. I have got to change things up, but I don’t know what to change up to.

My exercise is going well. I am swimming half a mile three days a week. It takes me about 30 – 40 minutes to complete, which is very slow, but I am able to continuously swim the entire time. It’s funny that I feel fine after swimming, but once I get to my truck, I am completely exhausted. I am feeling stronger in my arms and legs. It feels good.

Hopefully I can do some walking this week. Last week I was pretty busy at work.

I am learning that this weight loss stuff is a constant battle. My biggest enemy is myself (no pun intended) My sense of humor is still intact.

Ultimately it’s my decision what goes in my mouth, and how much I move my ass.

YOU WON’T LOSE YOUR ASS UNLESS YOU MOVE YOUR ASS – Jillian Michaels

I’m optimistic about next week. I plan on posting everyday, drinking a lot of water, and moving my ass.

Weigh-In

Weigh ins are fun when they go well. My weigh in this morning was at 583, which is a 9 pound loss from my last weigh in 2 weeks ago. Also, this brings the weight loss total to 49 lbs. Tune in 2 weeks from today for my next weigh in.

Thank You.
