Weekend April 24-26, 2009

I’m trying something new this weekend on my personal weight loss blog. Here’s an audio presentation: (the presentation opens in a new window)

http://www.stephenscomputerservices.com/blogpost/blogpost.html

Let me know your thoughts. Should I continue to do the audio presentations on the weekend, or should I stick to typing my post?

If I continue to do this, I will probably put the videos on youtube so the video can be embedded in the blog post.

Have a great week!!

04/21/09 Weigh In Day

Well, today is the 21st, and if you haven’t noticed, I didn’t post anything for my Weigh In day yesterday. I had a bad food and health weekend. Friday night I had 10 chicken wings and a regular order of ranch fries. Which, I thought was no big deal, but this meal triggered in me an appetite for other bad crap. Now, the health part. Saturday, I woke up with a terrible sore throat. I tried throat spray and gargling hot salt water. There was no relief. Then Sunday, I still had the sore throat. Monday, the sore throat went away and now my sinuses were stuffed up and I was coughing up nasty stuff. So on Mon. I went to the doc and found out I have a sinus infection. Now I’m on antibiotics and taking it easy at home. Also, my left ear is starting to throb. So I might be getting an ear infection to boot. It’s a two for one special.

Now the embarrassing food part: I ate all that I could find to stop the sore throat pain this weekend. Of course non of it worked. I ate a lot of my salty trail mix. Well, when I say a lot, I mean I ate the whole damn bag. There were a few occasions where I consumed a teaspoon of honey to try and relieve the pain. Also, I didn’t follow my food schedule, I just ate.

And another thing, I must confess that I weighed last week. I really want to weigh just once a month, but I find it hard. I might switch over to twice a month. This is a compromise between the weekly and monthly thing. I feel ashamed of myself because I have been doing so well, but once I feel better I will start walking and swimming again. I hope to swim again on Friday. This reminds me, I skipped swimming last Friday for no good reason. I felt fine, but my excuse was “I’m tired”.

Tomorrow, I start following my food schedule again.

Now for the weigh in: last Thursday I weighed 582, but on my official weigh in day I weighed 592. Thus, I ballooned up 10 pounds in 2 days. I really believe majority of that weight is fluid. I know I ate some bad stuff, but not enough to gain 10 pounds. Who knows, maybe I’m in denial.

Tomorrow I start my daily posting again with my list of food that I ate. To me, it gets boring, but it produces great results. Once I feel better, I think I will also give that personal trainer a call. See what she can help me out with.

I had some great news at the docs office. My BP was 132/80. I noticed though that they manually checked my BP and I was sitting down. Normally I stand and they use an automated machine. I’ve heard that it’s best to get your BP checked sitting down.

What do you think I could have done to prevent this bad weekend from happening? I want to be disciplined and never stray from my plan.

Quickie

Well I am still doing well. I’m just not posting on my blog. My exercise has been going very well. I walk Mon-Fri and do my stairs and swimming on Mon/Wed/Fri. It is really starting to make a difference. I find myself not complaining when I park somewhere. If I have to walk a block, now I think “so what”. In the past I would drive around until a spot became available or sometimes, if I couldn’t find a spot, I would leave.

Another thing that I’m noticing is that when I get out of breath from going up stairs on a service call for work, I don’t stay out of breath as long as I used to. Also, I’ve noticed that my out-of-breath spells are not as severe as they used to be.

Wednesday I swam 16 laps, which is almost half a mile. I wasn’t exhausted. Very fun stuff.

This morning, after my business networking meeting, I was approached by a personal trainer for free training. I think I will try to call her tomorrow. This will be a great opportunity to learn how to maximize my exercise. I definitely don’t want to overdo it, but I feel that I could handle more, or I could be fully utilizing my exercise time. ie using different swim techniques in the pool, doing water aerobics, or I might try to do a little weight training. We’ll see what happens.

Have a good Friday!

Monday 04/13/09

Today went well.

The pool was crowded today. I had to swim around the water aerobics people. I also had a complement at the pool, which surprised the hell out of me. I was about to get out of the pool, and this old man that was doing water aerobics said to me, “you make that look so easy.” I know this is petty, but I always down myself compared to other lap swimmers. They swim so much longer and faster than I do. His comment changed my perspective. The gentleman is most likely recovering from a heart attack or stroke. He was doing his water aerobics in the pool, and he seemed to be struggling. So, we are all at different stages in out life. What matters is how we resolve out problems. When life hands you lemons…

Peace

Sunday 04/13/09

Been working on my business website this weekend. Here it is: http://www.stephenscomputerservices.com

Hopefully I will make some money this week.

I had a lot of energy this weekend. The pool really seems to help. I will be swimming every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Also I do my steps on MWF, and I walk Mon-Fri. The weekends are my lazy time. Which is fine as long as I don’t chow down on a lot of crap.

I’ve actually had pretty good control since I started this plan. I don’t crave food. I don’t let it control me. For example, the little chicken mexican things that I ate yesterday, my mother and I used to split 2 boxes of those things which was like 24 each. I know, that’s insane. But now, I eat six with a meal and I’m satisfied.

Peace.

Saturday 04/11/09

I’ve been lazy today and my legs have been sore from swimming, but my energy is up. My metabolism must be kicking in from the swimming.

I’ve been working on the website today for my computer business. I am changing my business model. In the future, I am only going to work with small businesses. I am no longer going to do residential work. I will continue to service my existing customers, but I will not add new residential customers. I am doing this because I spend too much of my time on these little jobs for residential folks when I need more time to work on businesses.

We’ll see what happens.

I did eat a cinnamon roll with breakfast, but I ate only one. I will have one more tomorrow morning.
