Work chair

by Stephen Vinson on March 1, 2009

I’m bored. It’s snowing here in Birmingham (AL), which happens like once every two years.
I am thinking about all of the stuff I have to work on next week, and the one thing I dread about going to work is my chair. Currently, I sit on a stationary, armless stackable chair. Embarrassingly, I go through one of these a year due to my mammoth rear end. I am seriously thinking about buying a specially made office chair for folks like me (Seriously overweight but oh so good looking :) It sucks that I have to pay $300 for an office chair that supports 1000 pounds, but it is what it is.

My biggest fear of this transaction is that the chair is uncomfortable. The chair cannot be returned.

It’s hard to concentrate at work when your ass is sore because of pressure points on the chair.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my work. I just hate my chair.

I have the best boss in the world. Did I mention that I’m self employed? :-)
Finally, I want to welcome the nice folks that have requested access to my blog. You have no idea how much your blogs and your interest inspire me. Thank You!

Hey man, glad I found your blog. I find inspiration and insight through the struggles and success of all the people I follow whether they have 30 pounds to lose or 300, but its nice to find somebody who’s really in my neighborhood and dealing with the same struggles.

I hope you can find the strength and support from this community and this process as I have so far. Seeing as how even though you and I have a long ways to go, the only thing we can focus on making the way we want it to be is today, here’s to a great day for us both!

I look forward to following your success!

I was to the point that I was going to have to go to the Living XL catalog and drop the cash for the chair. I had already broken a couple of office chairs over the past three years. I had started to build a bench to sit on at one point, but now I am close to fitting in a standard chair. It has been a big reward.

So did you finally get the chair, and if so, how did it work out?

No, I'm still using a crappy chair. Which the current one that I'm using is about ready to implode. So I will be using another "disposable" chair. I just can't put $300+ in a chair right now. Thanks.
